Day Tour in the birthplace of Leonardo da Vinci

A day tour to Vinci to discover the origin of the genius of Leonardo, and visit to a local farm

I will meet you at your hotel/accommodation in Florence, or in another town in Tuscany, and then drive to Vinci (25 Miles West of Florence), native town of Leonardo da Vinci.
You’ll learn about the most emblematic man of the Italian Renaissance: Leonardo! He was born in Vinci in 1452; he spent there his childhood and adolescence and Vinci still preserves the same urban and countryside landscape it had when the young genius started his investigation of the natural phenomena, and made his first hydraulic experiments in the creek of the town. We’ll visit to the local museums, Leonardo’s birthplace, and walk through beautiful rolling hills with olive groves and vineyard. We’ll then visit a local farm to learn about cheese and olive oil making.
I am not going to give you a lecture – unless you want to – I will be informative but I won’t overdo with too many dates and names, I’ll make your visit fun with anecdotes and legends, you will have time to enjoy a typical local meal, coffee, ice cream: I know you are here on holiday and your holiday is meant to be enjoyable and fun!

Visit to:

  • Leonardo Museum (inside – the oldest collection entirely dedicated to his work as scientist, technologist and engineer, situated in the Castle of the Counts Guidi in Vinci)
  • The Church of the Holy Cross (inside – still preserving the baptismal font where Leonardo was baptized)
  • Leonardo and His Paintings (inside – set in the Villa il Ferrale, it is a didactic exhibition that hosts full scale, HD reproductions of all Leonardo’s paintings)
  • Leonardo’s birthplace in Anchiano (Casa Museo di Leonardo; inside – the house where Leonardo was born, with an HD digital reproduction of Leonardo’s hologram).

With me as your guide it will be easier for you to listen and follow the tour despite the everyday crowd, and I’ll be happy to accommodate your requests by going faster through sites that don’t interest you or stopping longer to see what’s more relevant to you.
