Day tour of “less known” Florence

We’ll start with the “oltrarno”, the other side of the Arno River (South side), to visit Pitti Palace, Medici family residence combined with gardens and a beautiful art gallery, lavish rooms and views; then we’ll continue our tour with a visit to the Carmine Church and its famous Brancacci Chapel frescoed by Masaccio, with a perfect application of new rules of perspective, studied by all major artists of the 15th Century including Michelangelo; after lunch in a typical restaurant, we’ll visit Palazzo Medici Riccardi, masterpiece of Renaissence architecture designed by Michelozzo for the first branch of the Medici Family. We’ll then walk to the nearby San Lorenzo Church, designed by Brunelleschi in the early 15th Century, where the Medici’s were baptized, married, and burried, we’ll visit, among other monuments, the Medici tombs made by Michelangelo.
I am not going to give you a lecture – unless you want to – I’ll be informative but I won’t overdo with too many dates and names, I’ll make your visit fun with anecdotes and legends, you’ll have time to enjoy a typical local meal, coffee, ice cream: I know you are here on holiday and your holiday is meant to be relaxing and fun!
